Martial Arts programs for youth promote self-discipline, confidence and fitness.
The New York Mixed Martial Arts Initiative is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that was created to help support self defense and martial arts after school programs for youth in New York. From 2010-2012, the NYMMAI has supported an after school self defense program for students at a Harlem high school. The program has functioned as an anti-violence, anti-gang and emotional support group for the students who participate.
The goal of the New York Mixed Martial Arts Initiative is to provide financial support to other tax exempt organizations that teach and promote self defense and martial arts programs for youth throughout New York.
THE NYMMAI HELD ITS FUNDRAISING EVENT IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN ON OCTOBER 29, 2011 AND, NOTWITHSTANDING THE HORRIBLE WEATHER, IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS. THE PRESS RELEASE DESCRIBING THE EVENT IS AVAILABLE HERE.
